Webinar on Revisiting Coalitions: Impact of the GNU on Governance, Intergovernmental Relations and Local Government
On 30 July 2024, the Dullah Omar Institute in partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation hosted a webinar on "Revisiting Coalitions: Impact of the GNU on Governance, Intergovernmental Relations and Local Government".
The webinar's panel consisted of Prof Jaap de Visser, Prof Joleen Steyn Kotze, Mr. Lukhona Mnguni, Dr. Nonhlanhla Ngcobo, and Dr. Conrad Bosire. The speakers reflected on coalition politics and governance from the perspective of academia, the Kenyan judiciary, and non-governmental organisations. This webinar provided a platform to continue the conversation and debate on the impact of a government of unity on governance in South Africa. Some of the expectations for the GNU were explored and the role communities play in a GNU.
